Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization and the Multidisciplinary Research Institute, Chiang Mai University, hosted a launch event for the project “Study on promoting urban development according to the Creative City approach” (Songkhla UNESCO Creative City Initiative) at the Queen Ballroom Meeting Room, 1st Floor, Laguna Grand Hotel & Spa Songkhla, Mueang Songkhla District, Songkhla Province.
The opening ceremony for the event was honored by Mr. Phaijen Maksuwan, Head of Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization, who provided a report on project objectives and potential benefits to Songkhla residents, together with an overview of provincial development. The event was honored by Deputy Governor Songkhla Province, Mr. Aphichat Saraban, who presided over the opening ceremony, together with Dr. Sudarat Uttarat, Head of the project “Study on promoting urban development according to the Creative City approach”, providing details and co-presentation of project information together with experts from Chiang Mai University.
The event was attended by participants from various agencies, including representatives of Songkhla Office, Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization (SAO), Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, the Southern Architects Committee, over 40 local administrative organizations from across Songkhla Province, representatives from the private and tourism sectors, civil society, and the media.
The project “Study on promoting urban development according to the Creative City approach” (Songkhla UNESCO Creative City Initiative) has established important objectives to study potential, propose promotional guidelines, formulate plans to promote the Creative City, and prepare proposal documents to drive Songkhla towards certification as a UNESCO Creative City, with an implementation period of 8 months from March to October 2024.
